Gallery walls have become one of the hottest trends in home decor, and it’s easy to see why! They’re the perfect way to showcase your favorite photos, art, and cherished memories. One of my all-time favorite styles is the black frame gallery wall—a timeless and sophisticated choice that instantly elevates any space. With its clean lines and modern vibe, it works beautifully in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms, and even home offices.

In this guide, I’ll show you how I transformed a blank wall using an affordable set of black wood frames I found on Amazon. The set includes six 11×14 frames and six 8×10 frames—perfect for creating a balanced, eye-catching display. Whether you’re looking to refresh your space or add a personal touch, this guide will help you design a gallery wall that not only enhances your home but also leaves a lasting impression. Let’s get started!
Our Minimalist Gallery Wall
Since we moved in, I knew I wanted a photo wall in the living room to break up the length of the wall space in the living room. The area I wanted to cover is around 89″ wide, but finding store-bought shelves that were long enough or had the right vibe was a challenge.
I wanted something sleek, modern, and timeless, so instead I decided to cross off the shelves and do a gallery wall without them. That’s when I came across these classic flat-panel black frames on Amazon. The sophisticated look instantly stood out to me, and I knew they would be perfect for transforming this blank wall into a stunning gallery of memories.
The Plan
Before I started hammering nails into the wall, I laid the frames on the floor in the pattern I wanted to make sure the grid layout would work as I envisioned. Then using tools like the laser level to so that everything is even and painters tape on the back of the frames to make sure the nails are in the right spot on the wall.
**( I use a small piece of painters tape from the top of the frame to the placement of the nail hole, make my mark, then place the same tape on the wall.)**
I alternated between the larger and smaller frames to create balance, with the larger frames running vertically and the smaller ones running horizontally. For my gallery wall, I kept the spacing consistent, about 2 inches between each frame.
Why I Love These Frames from Amazon
I can’t recommend these black wood frames enough! Here’s why they worked perfectly for my gallery wall:
- Sleek and Stylish: The black wood frames are minimalist, making them versatile enough for any space.
- Great-Quality Build: The frames feel sturdy, well-made, and light-weight. They don’t look or feel flimsy, despite being very affordable.
- Easy to Use: Clear plexiglass, easy-to-open tabs on the back, and easy to hang. switching out photos or artwork is a breeze.
- Affordable: Compared to other frame options, these were budget-friendly without sacrificing quality.
