Which living room wall to accent?
To get started, choose which wall or area you want to make a focal point. It could be behind the TV or another wall that would work better for your space.
How do you design a geometric wall?
Once you have a vision in mind, measure the area and draw out your design on paper or using a software like Sketchbook. Tape off the design on the wall to get a better idea of what it will look like before you start painting.

How to do a geometric paint accent wall?
Speaking of painting, be sure to prep your area by taping and covering anything you don’t want painted.
> What tape to use for painting?
Use 1.88” Scotch Blue painters tape to line the wall into the design you want.
For this look, I used Valspar Signature – Elegant Taupe for the main wall and black paint for the vertical boards. When it’s time to remove the tape, do so when the paint is about 60-70% dry for a clean line and less touch-up work.
**If you’re looking for a clean edge, here are a few tricks. Try using caulk along the edge of the tape or pressing the edge down for a cleaner look.**
What wood is used for geometric accent walls?
For this particular wall, I used 1-1/8 inch x 8 foot pine boards for a subtle appearance. However, 1 inch MDF boards can also be used for a bolder look.
Are accent walls dated?
And finally, to answer the question on everyone’s mind – are accent walls dated? The answer is no! When done right, accent walls can add character and interest to any room. So go ahead and give it a try – your space will thank you for it!
