Taking on a bathroom renovation can be huge a project. However, with some cost-effective DIY bathroom decor ideas, you can still achieve a stylish and functional space that will definitely make a big difference. I recently finished my own bathroom DIY project, and I’m excited to share the results with you. The best part? I managed to do the entire project for $150! Let me show you how I did it.

This small space was in desperate need of some love and personality. It was stuck with bland beige grey walls, grey floors, and builder grade finishes. But with a few DIY bathroom ideas like wallpaper, burlap, and a few new finishes, I was able to give it a whole new look!

The Moodboard
First things first, I put together a moodboard to get a sense of the overall look. It’s like a sneak peek into the future of your space! If you don’t like the texture, the color scheme, the patterns, etc., you can make changes before the project begins. The original color on all the bathroom walls are Valspar Agreeable Grey with a grey ceramic floor tile. New tile floors can be an expensive item when doing a reno, so I decided to work with the floors for now instead of changing them.

The goal for this space was to modernize and add some color, so I went for this beautiful textured turquoise green peel and stick wallpaper (an Amazon find) with gold and black lines that really tied all the elements together. Applying it was easy and if you make a mistake, you can easily peel it off and start again.
I found the black circle mirror at Hobby Lobby, on sale. It adds a touch of elegance without breaking the bank. The original price was around $69.

The Cabinet
For the cabinet doors, I got a little crafty with some burlap fabric and rope materials. I spread gorilla glue gel on the doors where I wanted the fabric to go. Then carefully applied and smoothed the burlap using my plastic putty knife. Now if you have ever used burlap material before you know it is no fun once it starts unraveling. So to help prevent any unraveling mishaps, I sprayed gorilla glue over it. Then I hot glued the rope around the edges, resprayed the gorilla glue. This is a great way to ensure the rope doesn’t shed and everything was smooth and secure. The square knobs were a great find from Lowes!

Functionality
To maximize functionality, I knew that the back wall needed a better place to hang towels than the towel rack that was there. I decided to create a board and batten area, applied a fresh coat of paint, and added 3 new towel hooks. For a quick update, these small changes have transformed this bathroom and make this small space feel spa like!
Creating a new bathroom space on a budget is entirely possible! A little creativity and some DIY skills, is a easy way to turn your bathroom into a space that you love to walk in. Remember, it’s all about adding those DIY bathroom decor ideas, finishes and injecting your own unique style. So, grab that moodboard, to get crafty, and let your imagination run. You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve without breaking the bank.
